Overview

Embark on a captivating 9-day journey through Bhutan, starting with your arrival in Paro, where you will be warmly welcomed by your guide. From Paro, you’ll drive to Thimphu, Bhutan’s capital, taking in the scenic beauty of the Paro Valley. Upon arrival, you’ll check in at your hotel and later visit the National Memorial Chorten and the impressive Tashichho Dzong, home to the King’s offices. The evening is yours to explore Thimphu’s local shops or relax at a café.

The second day in Thimphu is dedicated to cultural exploration. After a hearty breakfast, visit the giant Buddha Dordenma statue overlooking the Thimphu Valley for panoramic views. You’ll then observe students practicing traditional arts at the Institute for Zorig Chusum, followed by a visit to the Textile Museum to delve into Bhutan’s rich textile heritage. The day also includes a visit to the Takin Preserve Center and the ancient Changangkha Lhakhang temple. The evening is free for further exploration or relaxation.

On the third day, you’ll journey to Punakha, stopping at Dochula Pass for stunning views of the 108 stupas and the Himalayas. After lunch at Dochula Cafeteria, continue to Punakha, where you’ll visit the magnificent Punakha Dzong, located at the confluence of two rivers, and Bhutan’s longest suspension bridge. The day ends with an evening of leisure in Punakha.

Day four takes you to Wangdue, starting with a hike through lush rice fields to the Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten, offering panoramic views of the Punakha Valley. After lunch in Punakha, you’ll drive to Wangdue, where you’ll explore the historic Wangdue Phodrang Dzong, currently under reconstruction. The evening is yours to explore the local market or enjoy a quiet evening at your hotel.

The fifth day offers an excursion to the Phobjikha Valley, home to the endangered black-necked cranes during winter. You’ll visit the Gangtey Monastery, one of Bhutan’s most significant religious sites, before enjoying lunch in the serene valley. After returning to Wangdue, the evening is free for further exploration or relaxation.

On the sixth day, you’ll drive to the peaceful Haa Valley, a less-visited region that provides a glimpse into Bhutan’s rural life. Along the way, you’ll stop for lunch and visit the White and Black Temples, two of the oldest and most revered temples in Haa. The evening is spent exploring Haa town or soaking in the tranquil atmosphere.

The seventh day takes you to Paro via Chele La Pass, the highest motorable pass in Bhutan, offering stunning views of the Himalayas and Paro Valley. After lunch at the pass, you’ll descend into Paro and visit the National Museum at Paro Ta Dzong and the majestic Rinpung Dzong. The evening is yours to explore Paro town or relax.

Day eight is dedicated to exploring Paro’s iconic sites, including a hike to the Taktsang Monastery (Tiger’s Nest), perched on the edge of a cliff. After lunch with a view of the monastery, you’ll visit Kyichu Lhakhang, one of Bhutan’s oldest and most sacred temples. The evening is free to spend as you wish, enjoying your last night in Bhutan.
